U4GM PoE2: What Is Whirling Slash and How It Works

Whirling Slash is one of those skills that just clicks once you start moving with it. You swing the spear in a tight circle, build a Whirlwind around yourself, and suddenly packs that looked harmless start getting dragged into your rhythm. The slow and blind on nearby enemies do a lot of work too, especially when you're pinned in a messy corner and need a bit of breathing room. If you're shopping around for upgrades and planning the rest of your setup, it helps to keep an eye on PoE2 Currency early, since this skill starts to feel much better once the rest of the gear catches up.

The real strength comes from how the stages build up. At three stages, the Whirlwind gets wider, and that extra space matters more than people expect. You're not just standing still and hoping enemies walk into it. You're setting up a zone. Then, when you step out, the whole thing snaps shut and hits much harder. That burst is the part most players remember. It feels clean. A little aggressive. You can tell when you've timed it right, because the knockback lands and the pack just falls apart. If you rush the collapse too early, though, it's easy to waste the whole setup.

The Wind tag changed the conversation quite a bit. It opened the door to some odd but useful support choices, and that gives the skill a nicer ceiling than a lot of early spear attacks. Fan The Flames can be fun if you're leaning into ignite, while Impact Shockwave gives you another way to make the hit matter when enemies are grouped up. For most players, though, the usual physical setup still feels best. Brutality is simple and strong. Rapid Attacks makes the rhythm smoother, and that matters more than people admit, because a skill like this lives or dies on how fast you can build those stages without feeling stuck.

There are a couple of traps that catch people out. Bloodlust and Bleed IV look tempting, but they can shut off your own ability to apply bleed, which means you're forced to use another skill just to turn them on. That's clunky in maps. Same story with Exploit Weakness if you were hoping to break armour yourself. And then there's the mana and Dex cost at higher gem levels. It climbs fast, so you can't just wing it. By the time you're pushing into endgame, you'll want the rest of the build to line up with it, maybe even grab cheap poe2 currency if you're trying to smooth out the gear gap without stalling your progression.
